Clinics will be a loose instruction, allowing for teaching at multiple levels. If your dog is not catching yet but you would like to learn how, or your dog is catching and you're ready for advanced tricks, Join us!
See what's its all about! Learn about the different types of play, and discuss your comfort level of training, some train for fun only, some would like to train for competition, all levels are welcome! We also encourage junior handlers to come play! Children must have adult present.
We will talk about different throws and routine building with each team, as well.
We have gently used CANINE FRIENDLY discs for use during class.
Each time you throw a disc it should have a different release this will increase your freestyle score.
We will practice your long tosses with ACCURACY! Always accuracy before distance! We will look at your release point of the disc as your dog goes around, the timing is important. Also will look at you dogs preferred catching height of the disc.
We will spend some time talking about how to build a routine, "sets", ins/outs, gather, transitions, set ups, close and far throws.
The overall flow of a routine and learning to work with what your dog is giving you! :)
I will provide you with a full set of routine building cards! We will go over what is being judged and looked at.
( We will focus on Skyhoundz Rules, since that is all thats offered in the NW )
I will work one on one with each team, for specific tricks/training, it is suggested the other teams watch and learn during this time.
SUNDAY- - FUN MATCH!!
We will offer a variety of fun games to test your new skills, in a low key fun environment, though there will be prizes!
The clinic will be at Kris's residence, Eugene OR.
Room for camping and the grill will be available for whatever you want to toss on it. Fire pit for marshmallows too. Or, if folks want to go to a local restaurant, that's cool. She'll make sure the Kegerator has fresh micro-brew in it. We also have two extra bathrooms with showers. One is in the garage for those of you who like extra quiet and privacy in the morning :-)
Sunday morning, she'll provide fresh coffee, eggs from our chickens, bacon and pancakes.
Oh yeah, if the weather sucks for camping, we will go to plan B. That is, sleeping bags on the living room floor and a short stick drawing to see who gets to sleep in our camper. :-) For those of you not interested in sleeping in a tent, floor or camper, there are some hotels in the area. I know some of you Corvallis/Eugene folks will be sleeping in your own beds.
